📸 Transformation photos
.
Transformation photos are a great way for coaches to showcase the results they have achieved with their clients. I have used them and will continue to do so. However there are a lot of common tricks of the trade that are used to manipulate the untrained eye as to how much progress has really been made. This along with the actual starting point of the individual compared to the perceived starting point can be very misleading.
.
🤸🏼♀️ There are many things that need to be taken into consideration when you see a transformation photo. First of all the actual starting point of the individual and their training history. Someone from a good athletic background who has trained in the gym on and off is going to get better results than someone who has lead a more sedentary lifestyle and with little training history.
.
🦖 This includes the amount of muscle mass the individual is carrying to begin with. Someone with lots of muscle mass but covered with excess fat levels will be easier to get results with than someone with less muscle mass and similar levels of body fat.
.
⚙️ An individual with no bio mechanical issues will be easier to get results with than someone with lots of issues and riddled with injuries (something that can not usually be seen in a starting photo).
.
💡 Situational tricks are also used. Ones which can literally change the outcome of the picture in 15 minutes. Lighting tricks, fake tan, body hair removal, dehydration, pumped up muscles all make a HUGE difference to the outcome of the photo.
.
💻 Not to mention the editing process, adding a filter, upping the structure/ shadows on the photo also play a big contributing role.
.
💇🏼♂️All of these situation tricks are also used with your favourite fitness Instagram models also. All contributing to the overall end result of the photo. Everyones guilty of it, including me.
.
🧠 Next time you see a phenomenal transformation photo have this in the back of your mind. Remember there are numerous things to take into consideration as to how the end result was achieved.
